Meet Maureen
With a strong background in public service and community leadership, I bring a rare blend of expertise, integrity, and dedication to the table. My previous experiences span local government, nonprofit agencies, higher education, and the private sector, all of which give me a comprehensive understanding of the diverse challenges facing families and schools in our county. As a proven leader and active SCPS parent, I combine my personal investment in this community with a results- driven mindset, which makes me exceptionally qualified to continue to serve and lead with purpose. My commitment to communication, collaboration, and practical problem-solving makes me the trusted choice for effective and compassionate leadership.
What's Next?
Through developing positive relationships with County Supervisors and State Legislators, I have worked towards correcting long-standing deficits, such as closing the salary gap for staff and beginning the construction of new schools. |
I am passionate about recruiting and retaining high-quality staff who share our commitment to excellence. Our schools will continue to be secure, well-maintained, and focused on student success – NOT bureaucracy.
I have worked to promote academic excellence in Stafford schools, including the creation of high school speciality centers. Looking ahead, I will continue to focus on core subjects, the arts, and real world readiness, so that every student is prepared for college, a career, or military service.
I have worked to establish a record of strong and consistent school policies that foster safe teaching and learning environments, and I will continue to the work of keeping schools free from disruptions and bullying, as well as expanding mental health supports for students and staff.
As the demands on our county change, so too will my priorities and actions as a leader. I will place greater emphasis on teacher autonomy, and ensure that decisions are made according to individual student need, rather than following a pre-packaged script. I will continue the fight to properly fund for our schools, and work closely with staff organizations to address concerns.
